Thank you for choosing me to photograph your newborn!
I look forward to meeting both you and baby. Newborns have special needs, and these needs are taken very seriously with the upmost safety in mind at all times.
-
Make sure you arrive to your session with a full baby tummy.-Please feed baby right before you leave for your session. If baby is bottle feeding, please bring extra bottles and milk (formula or breastmilk)
-
Dress baby in loose fitting clothes to avoid any lines on baby’s skin and to avoid disturbing baby when getting undressed. Please avoid onesies or anything that needs to be pulled over baby’s head.
-
Most newborn sessions are done nude. Please know that accidents will happen. All of my linens are washed after each use. (We will use careful attention to make sure any baby bits aren’t showing)
-
If baby takes a paci, (or even if they don’t) keep one handy for soothing
-
You will be asked to stay very near baby at all times to prevent any slipping from startling.
These sessions take longer than the average session, about 2 hours and will be WARM. I keep the studio area about 80 degrees. Please dress accordingly. There will be plenty of time set aside for nursing and comforting.
What do parents wear?
Dark solid colors are best. This will provide contrast from baby, but will not distract
Suggestions are:
Black, charcoal, brown
I have a lot of patience with newborns and children in general. It is not unusual to spend a lot of time uncurling tiny fingers and helping baby relax into a pose. It’s my goal for baby to look peaceful and comfortable.
Safety is my number one concern. I will never force baby into an uncomfortable position, or put baby into an unsafe prop.
I am open to new ideas. If you have things you’d like to bring, please do. We will attempt to incorporate them into your photos.
